Woodridge fire chief, his brother, charged with gassing up their vehicles with FD fuel

VILLAGE OF WOODRIDGE – The Woodridge
fire chief and his brother have been arrested by village police and charged
with filling up their own vehicles with fuel meant only for fire trucks.

Chief David Begbie, 45, and his brother, Donald, 47, also a firefighter
with the Woodridge department, have been charged with scheme to defraud,
criminal trespass and petit larceny. The chief, David, was also charged
with official misconduct.

The men gained access to the fuel pumps at the village public works complex
using a key provided by the village to the fire department.

They were arraigned and released pending a future court appearance.

Police said the investigation is continuing with the possibility of additional
charges.
