BEACON – Several years ago the Beacon City Council rejected a Metro-North proposal for transit oriented development along the Hudson River waterfront near the train station.
The current city council wants to take a fresh look at the concept, said Mayor Randy Casale.
“We are looking for a grant to get money to update our comprehensive plan, which was done in 2007, so we feel that needs to be looked at and updated and as we do that, we are going to look at the waterfront rezoning, which would be down in that area to decide how we want to zone it,” Casale said.
The previous transit oriented plan included housing, retail and parking, all within walking distance to the train station.
