Regional unemployment continues steady decline

ALBANY – Unemployment in area counties in June continued the decline it has been experiencing over the last several months.
Columbia County had the lowest rate in June compared to the same month last year, at 3.9 percent.
Putnam County came in second with a 4.4 percent rate while Westchester County had a rate of 4.6 percent.
Dutchess and Rockland counties were tied at 4.7 percent joblessness while Ulster and Orange counties each had 4.8 percent.
Sullivan County has come a long way from the double digits of last year, down to 5.3 percent unemployment and Greene County was at the bottom of the regional list in June at 5.4 percent.
