SAUGERTIES – A woman, whose pocketbook was stolen from a laundromat in Saugerties helped police track it down and arrest the suspected thief by using the “Find My iPhone” app. The purse contained her smart phone and with the use of the app, she was able to locate it. Saugerties Police found the suspect, Fransuash De Lynn Vega, 28, of Saugerties, in possession of the pocketbook, the phone and several keys.
The phone was damaged and the battery was removed in an attempt to conceal the location of the device.
While at police headquarters, De Lynn Vega became combative with officers.
She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and sent to
the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
