YORKTOWN – The entrance plaza to the acre-size pool at the FDR State Park in Yorktown was reopened Friday with a ceremony attended by state Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey.
“The renovation provides visitors to a much more comfortable experience in a much more aesthetically beautiful setting,” Harvey said.
The adjacent bathhouse, with restrooms, showers and changing areas, was modernized for the first time since it was constructed in 1965.  The cost of the work, $3.6 million, was funded by the state.
The pool, which is open daily from late June through Labor Day, can hold up to 3,500 visitors at a time and is one of the major attractions of the park.
