KINGSTON – Early indications are that the legal sales of sparkling devices from June 1 to July 5 in Ulster County should be “a nice boost” to the county sales tax coffers, county officials said Tuesday.
County Legislator Richard Gerentine, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, said legalizing the sparkling devices in Ulster “was an overwhelming success and I look forward to seeing the final sales taxes figures when they are available.”
Gerentine said while some of his colleagues expressed concerns regarding the safety, “I hope the actual results will put their minds at ease.”
