BEACON – The $93 million project to re-deck the eastbound span of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge is nearing completion.
The three-year project is seeing the entire bridge deck replaced. In
the meantime, the three lanes of traffic have been reduced to two lanes
while the work proceeds.
New York State Bridge Authority Executive Director Joseph Ruggiero expects the project to be completed in late fall.
“We are in the last year of the Newburgh-Beacon south span re-decking project and hopefully by November 2015 these two bridges will be back in full service order and excuse us for our appearance, but the work will all come to a conclusion,” Ruggiero said.
Late last year, the $19 million re-painting of the westbound span of
the bridge was completed.
