CARMEL – The owner of restaurants in Carmel and Mahopac has been found guilty by a Putnam County Court jury of forcibly touching the intimate parts of a waitress while at his restaurant in January 2014.
Lani Zaimi was previously convicted in November 2010 of sexual abuse involving another waitress at his restaurant. Zaimi, who is not a US citizen, faces deportation due to his second conviction for a sexual offense.
Zaimi, who still faces a retrial for the rape of another waitress in July 2013, will be sentenced on the latest conviction in August.
He was released pending the sentencing despite the request by District Attorney Adam Levy to hold him in the county jail until then.
Zaimi was convicted last Wednesday, June 24.
