HIGHLAND – The spring weather may have
contributed to the increased traffic and revenue in May on the five Mid-Hudson
bridges crossing the Hudson River when compared to the same month last
year.
The greatest percentage increase in both categories was on the Bear Mountain Bridge with over seven percent.
The Rip Van Winkle Bridge, up over five percent, came in second.
In third place was the Mid-Hudson Bridge with some three percent increase in both revenue and traffic.
The Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, with over two percent more traffic and under two percent more revenue, was fourth in percentages.
The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, the most trafficked of the five, had one-third of one percent more traffic and over one-and-two-thirds more revenue.
In total, in May the five bridges had 5.4 million crossings with revenue of over $4.9 million. That reflects over 2.5 percent increases in both.
Year-to-date, the five bridges saw over 23.1 million crossings with revenue of more than $21.5 million.
