Newburgh and Albany police team up for ‘Operation Cease Fire’

NEWBURGH – Police departments in the cities of Newburgh and Albany are going to team up for a new approach to crime fighting.            
Newburgh City Manager Michael Ciaravino briefed the city council Monday evening on the new effort.
“The police department has been partnering with the City of Albany Police Department to prepare for the beginning of ‘Operation Cease Fire’, which is a program designed to address group violence,” Ciaravino said. “Both jurisdictions are at the same of preparation of a nationally recognized cease fire model that strives to get subjects prone to violence an alternative before crimes begin.”
The program has not yet been implemented.
