TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A permanent medication drop box has been installed in the lobby of the Poughkeepsie Town Police station at 19 Tucker Drive.
The public can anonymously dispose of medicine seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
The drop box provides the public with another opportunity to prevent prescription drug abuse by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted medicine.
Drugs that linger in home medicine cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. It is not recommended to dispose of unwanted drugs by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash as that poses potential safety and health hazards.
