GRAHAMSVILLE – Self-proclaimed government
watchdog Kenneth Walter announced on Monday that he will seek the Democratic
Party’s nomination for the Sullivan County Legislature’s District
Three. That seat is currently held by Republican Kathleen “Kitty”
Vetter.

“Quite simply, our government and our representatives must work
better, smarter and more efficiently for the greater good of all of Sullivan
County,” Walter said.

He said for many years he has “stood unofficial guard on government’s
wall and monitored the goings on, for better or worse, in our county legislature
and other areas of local government. After attending literally hundreds
of government meetings, hearings and sessions I know that I can be more
effective actually sitting at the table where the decisions that affect
all of us are being made.”

He said that “vision, common sense and the ability to find solutions
to problems by not thinking in the same old way that got us into this
mess have been in short supply, particularly these last four years.”

Walter said it is “time for new blood.”

He is a member of the county’s Ethics Review Board and the county
Charter Review Commission and treasurer of the Town of Fallsburg Democratic
Committee.
