CARMEL – Putnam County District Attorney
Adam level Friday announced his candidacy for re-election.

He made the announcement on the steps of the Historic County Courthouse
in Carmel.

The two-term prosecutor already has the endorsement of the county Republican
and Conservative parties.

“Recidivism in Putnam has dropped nearly in half, because the word
is out if you commit a crime in Putnam, you will be held accountable.
Make no mistake, Putnam County is safer than it has ever been,”
he said.

Levy said he is running “to continue my work, which has resulted
in Putnam County being the safest place in New York State to live, work,
and raise a family.”

He said his “hard stance” on DWI has led to a 34 percent drop
among adults since 2008, and 53 percent decline among underage drivers.

The DA said violent crime is down 40 percent. “Putnam’s law
enforcement partners are enjoying a period of unprecedented cooperation
and effectiveness, and the proof is in how Putnam is.”

He also said protecting children has been a mainstay of his career as
DA.
