Newburgh man arrested after chase in stolen vehicle

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A City of Newburgh man was arrested Thursday morning after he led Town of Newburgh Police on a high-speed chase that including pulling into the driveway of a day care center.
Harold Hall, 21, was charged with five counts of felony reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and over 20 moving traffic violations.  He was also wanted on arrest warrants by Town of Newburgh and Village of Montgomery Police.
The incident began around 9:25 a.m. when police spotted the driver of a pickup truck speeding on Gardnertown Road at Route 300 near the town police station.  The truck ran through a red light at Route 300, turning onto Route 300 and momentarily running off the road into a ditch.
Shortly after, he sped into the driveway of the Tot’s ‘n Us Day care where there were adults and children. No one was struck injured.
Hall sped away leading officers into Plattekill, attempting to make a U-turn on the lawn of a home.  He gave up when an officer drew his weapon and ordered him to stop.
It was then determined the truck had been stolen from Quality Landscaping off Gardnertown Road.
