Another use for the former Horton Hospital and now
Touro College

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus is close to striking a deal with Touro College in Middletown and its landlord to relocate the county’s medical examiner offices there.
The medical examiner’s current facilities are housed in a mobile
unit next to the county Emergency Services Center in Goshen.
Neuhaus said moving to the medical college in the former Horton Hospital building could also provide a teaching opportunity for students.
“Touro is even considering offering a pathology school there. It would be basically a two-year school to train young men and women in the forensic science field,” he said.
County Legislator Jeffrey Berkman, who represents Middletown, backs the plan saying it would be “an honorable retro-fit of ‘Horton’s’ intended use.”
