POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County
Democratic Committee has endorsed its slate of county candidates for the
November elections.

Diana Jablonski, a former county comptroller, will top the ticket running
for county executive.

The committee also endorsed Poughkeepsie City Judge Katherine Moloney
for county court judge and former Assistant Attorney General Lisa Ghartey
for family court judge.

Mary Williams was also tapped as the Democrats’ choice to run for
Dutchess County clerk.

Jablonski said if elected, she would focus on job creation, creating “true
partnerships” between county and municipal governments, and a fiscal
policy “not dependent on budgetary gimmicks.”
Moloney has served nine years on the bench and has served as assistant
corporation counsel as well as a public defender.

Ghartey served as assistant attorney general for 12 years and was appointed
assistant commissioner for Child Welfare and Community Services in the
New York State Office of Children and Family Services, where she still
works.

Williams was a software engineer and programmer at IBM for nearly 30 years,
ending as a senior manager. “The clerk’s office must be more
productive and should be an example to other counties in how to increase
efficiency,” he said. “I believe I have the technical skills
to get the job done.
County Chairwoman Elisa Sumner said the party has “the most qualified
candidates, and a diversity which represents this county.”
