First hot-spot patroling by Newburgh Police occurred Saturday evening.
The city officers used their new Police Mobile Station at First Street
and Carpenter Avenue.

NEWBURGH – The newly acquired City of Newburgh Police Mobile Station completed its first two assignments last weekend.
The first was to assist a neighborhood trash pickup that was part of the Newburgh Green Clean Up event. The mobile station’s generator powered the pep rally that occurred before the event. The station then led the procession of volunteers around the city as they cleaned the sidewalks.  Volunteers were also able to access the station for supplies and water during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. event.
The mobile station was then deployed at the intersection of First Street and Carpenter Avenue for hot-spot policing. The mobile station’s spotlights were used to light up the area.  City officers teamed up with Orange County Sheriff’s deputies for a large police presence on foot patrol.  Officers also grilled hamburgers and hotdogs that they gave out to the community residents along with potato chips and drinks. The event took place from 8 p.m. until midnight.
