WASHINGTON – Congressman Christopher
Gibson (R, NY19) may have self-imposed a term limit and will not seek
reelection at the end of this, his second-two-year term in Washington.
Any thought of a possible run for governor, however, is discussion for
another day.
Despite having said that, Gibson said New York does need to reinvent itself.
“We need a change in direction in many areas including education to move towards empowerment, to help teachers, parents and students as we look to bring excellence to the classroom,” he said.  “I think we need change in New York on that, and also battling corruption. I think it is so important that we bring forward ethics reform.”
That includes term limits for elected state office-holders, Gibson said.
Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino, the Republican who lost to Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo last year, continues his statewide exposure and said he would consider another shot at the state’s top job.
