TOWN OF WALLKILL – A crash between an empty school bus and a truck on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill Friday morning claimed the life of the bus driver.
Raymond Lucca, Sr., 69, of Walden, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Donato Marangi Inc. garbage truck, Cesar Leon-Sanchez, 21, of Goshen, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Troopers said Sanchez’s truck drifted into the opposite lane causing the head-on crash. The accident occurred in the area of Harmony Christian School shutting down the road.
State Police were assisted by Town of Wallkill Police, Montgomery and Mechanicstown fire departments and the state Department of Transportation.
The crash investigation closed Route 211 for several hours
