WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon woman was indicted by the Westchester County grand jury on two counts of manslaughter and other crimes for allegedly running over a woman and killing her in a rivalry over a man.
Carla Scott, 35, was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies.
On April 18 at about 5:30 p.m., Scott, who was parked in Yonkers, drove her car striking the victim, Glynis Pinto, who was standing in front of the car. The victim was launched onto the hood of the car as Scott continued to drive with Pinto hanging on for about 30 yards until Pinto was thrust backwards onto the road and both wheels on the right side of the car ran over her, killing her.
Scott then fled and was arrested on April 22 after a joint effort by the Westchester County DA’s Office, Yonkers Police and FBI. She was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in state prison.
