CARMEL – The Putnam County Legislature confirmed Anthony Sutton as the acting commissioner of the Bureau of Emergency Services.
The post has been vacant since January when County Executive MaryEllen Odell opted not to reappoint former Commissioner Adam Stiebeling.
The legislature voted Tuesday night to appoint Sutton in an acting capacity until pending legislation with Stiebeling is resolved. He is suing the county alleging he was wrongfully let go.
Sutton has previously served as deputy director for Operations in the state Office of Emergency Management as well as deputy commissioner of Emergency Services in Westchester County.
