Poughkeepsie man arrested in Newburgh for illegal gun possession

NEWBURGH – A Poughkeepsie man was arrested early Monday morning after Newburgh Police responded to a report of shots being fired in the area of 186 Chambers Street in the city.
A man acting suspiciously was observed on a street camera and officers located him in the area of 263 Liberty Street.
Jamell Jennings, 19, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was found in possession of a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun. He also possessed additional bullets and a small amount of marijuana.  He was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Officers did not locate any shell casings or injured people at the scene.
