MAHOPAC – A woman sustained a gunshot
wound to her leg and a man was found dead from several gunshots to his
upper torso in Mahopac early Saturday morning in what police called a
domestic shooting.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Carmel Town Police received a call
from a resident saying someone was trying to break into her Ann Road home.
The intruder was later determined to be a past domestic partner.
A second call from a basement tenant was placed to Putnam County 911 saying
he saw a man with a gun enter the home.
Officers arrived at the scene in four minutes and found the woman bleeding
from a gunshot wound and the man dead. Police did not release their names.
The woman was transported to Danbury Hospital by ambulance.
The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Carmel Police
Department with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Forensic
Investigations Unit.
