FISHKILL – The $4.8 million general fund deficit facing the Town of Fishkill has been closed.
Town Supervisor Robert LaColla said the cash shortfall was made up a year ahead of schedule.
“Our auditors are just finishing up and we got the news within the past two weeks, and it looks like it is going to hold,” LaColla said. “We did have a tax increase, but we also curtailed spending quite a bit and that helped us accelerate the buy-down,” he said.
LaColla assumed the town supervisor’s seat 3 ½ years ago
when the deficit was already in place and with the concurrence of the
town board, was able to eliminate it.
