Liquor store burglary suspect caught after chase

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A City of Newburgh man is under arrest after he allegedly broke into a liquor store in the Town of Newburgh early Thursday morning.
Abdul Mutakabbir, 49, was charged with burglary, two counts of reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing police, resisting arrest and 20 vehicle and traffic violations.
Town of Newburgh Police received an alarm of a break-in at Neighborhood Wine and Spirits on Route 52 at around 3:25 a.m. and when they arrived there, a man, later identified as Mutakabbir, was running out of the store.  He jumped into a vehicle and led police on a chase onto I-84 where he crashed the car and fled on foot.  He was caught a short time later.
