Ulster man charged with trying to break into house

TOWN OF ULSTER – A Saugerties man is charged with felony attempted burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief in connection with an attempted break-in at a residence in the Town of Ulster.
Police arrested Kevin Smith, 31, of Glenerie Boulevard in Saugerties early Saturday morning when they responded to a 911 call for a suspect attempting to gain entry to a residence on Glenerie Boulevard.  As a result of an investigation, police found that Smith allegedly tried to forcibly enter the residence at about 1:14 a.m.
He was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
