HYDE PARK – Service and maintenance employees at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park have voted overwhelmingly to join college workers across the state by joining the Service employees International Union, Local 200United.
The CIA workers are members of the Independent Culinary Craft Association (CCA) and have contracted with SEIU for professional union services. According to the Culinary Craft Association, CIA housekeeping jobs used to be living wage jobs with benefits that could support a family.
The CIA workers are now associating with employees at Marist, Vassar and Bard colleges in Dutchess County, all members of SEIU Local 200United.
