ALBANY – Greene County had the largest
job growth in the region, percentage-wise in the 12-month period ended
in March at 2.1 percent.
Ulster County, at two percent, came in second, followed by Columbia County
at 1.9 percent growth, and the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metropolitan
Division at 0.8 percent.
Sullivan County jobs were stagnant with no growth and the Dutchess-Putnam
Metropolitan Division dropped slightly, by 0.1 percent.
Region-wide, the state labor department reported a 0.9 percent job growth
in the 12-month period with jobs increasing by 6,800.
Jobs growth was experienced in educational and health services; professional
and business services; natural resources, mining and construction; and
other services.
There were job losses in manufacturing, information and financial activities.
The government sector shed 600 jobs over the period.
