Berkshire Farm Center youth resident arrested following disturbance

CANAAN – A resident of the Berkshire Farm Center for Youth in Canaan has been arrested following an incident at the facility on Wednesday.
State Police charged Nija Johnson, 16, with menacing, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon.  Troopers said Johnson allegedly damaged school property and threatened to harm school staff. He also menaced school staff members with a piece of broken glass and plastic.
Johnson was ssent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.
