Monticello area business owners begin casino marketing efforts

MONTICELLO – The Monticello Business
Association, which is comprised of business owners in the Monticello-Town
of Thompson area, is going to launch their own pre-casino marketing plan.
Association founder Jeffrey Siegel said they are working on a strategy to aim at current residents of Sullivan, Orange and Ulster counties and current tourists to the region.
“We are hoping to trial run, once we have everything in place – let’s say July 1 is our target date to do the promotions – to all the visitors who are going to come up here this summer and this fall so we can see what will work, what might not work, what was good, what was bad… in preparation for the casino when you are going to have hundreds of thousands of people, not just tens of thousands of people,” Siegel said.
The Empire Resorts casino in Kiamesha Lake will begin construction in
the next several months with completion two years later.
