More legal wrangling over the building that was
closed two years ago

GOSHEN – Attorney Michael Sussman latest lawsuit attempting to block the reconstruction of the Orange County Government Center, has County Executive Steven Neuhaus outraged.
Neuhaus said Sussman “likes to waste taxpayer money” and he called the attorney “an obstructionist” by filing lawsuit after lawsuit against the county.
“He has had a failed political career and since the voters haven’t accepted him, he tries to use his legal papers to try to stop progress and stop moving things forward,” Neuhaus said. “The people see through it and what we see this as is just a waste of taxpayer money, but we are going to continue forward like we do with everything in Orange County government.”
Sussman’s suit, on behalf of three county residents, seeks to prevent demolition and reconstruction of a portion of the Paul Rudolph-designed structure, which some consider architecturally significant.
Instead, they support a proposal to sell the building to New York City architect Gene Kaufman, who wants to convert the building into artist space and apartments.
