KINGSTON – The Police Chiefs Association
of Ulster County does not endorse or conduct telephone fund raising efforts,
officials said.
The notice comes as area residents have reported receiving phone calls
from people claiming to represent the police chiefs’ group, soliciting
for their annual fund drive.
Police advise that if anyone receives a call that sounds suspicious, resist
the pressure to act quickly, verify the information before sending any
money to anyone or organization, never wire money based on a request made
over the phone or in an email, especially to an overseas location, and
when I doubt, call your local police department.
