Haverstraw man accused of scamming over $100,000 in unemployment benefits

NEW CITY – A Haverstraw man was sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail on a charge of felony grand larceny in connection with unemployment benefits scam.
Ramon Delacruz of 41 Rela Avenue in Haverstraw allegedly applied for and received unemployment benefits on behalf of at least 20 individuals who were living outside the United States.
Delacruz was arrested on Monday after police executed a search warrant at his home.   He is charged with defrauding the state of over $100,000 in a four year period beginning in 2011.
