CARMEL – A Putnam County man faces
50 years in state prison when sentenced in May for raping a woman in November
2013 while her five-year-old son was watching TV in another room.

Victor Cruz Garcia, 43, was convicted on March 13 of rape, criminal sexual
act, and endangering the welfare of a child.

When the woman was able to break free from the attack, Garcia became enraged
and threatened to harm her and her family if she called police, but she
was able to call 911 and Kent Police officers responded and arrested him.

“No one should ever have to endure what this woman and her family
went through,” said Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy. “She’s
a survivor who bravely pursued the case despite serious threats to herself
and her family.”
