Parker – officially out

MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Health and Family Services Commissioner Randy Parker, who has been on administrative leave since January, has been terminated from his job by County Manager Joshua Potosek.
The department’s handling of Home Energy Assistance Program and food stamp programs had been under fire until the county brought in new interim leadership to straighten out the situation, which was criticized by the state.
Parker hired an attorney after he was suspended and sources said there had been talks with county leadership about some form of buyout for Parker to quietly leave his job, but no agreement was reached.
A year ago, the county legislature hiked Parker’s salary 30 percent to $108,000, to keep him from accepting a similar position in Orange County.
