GOSHEN – Four men were indicted on Thursday charging them with forcing their way into a Mount Hope home on February 12 while armed with knives and terrorizing a man, woman and her 18-year-old daughter.
Charged with burglary, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of stolen property were Angel Cardona, 34, Daniel Degroat, 24, Jeremy Monroe, 30, and Albert Reed, Jr., 32, all of Middletown.
The male victim was stabbed and beating during the robbery while the two women were threatened with knives, bodily harm and sexual abuse.
Three of the assailants entered the house with their heads concealed by scarves and hooded sweatshirts. The fourth man stayed in their vehicle serving as the getaway driver.  Police pursued the robbers as they fled, throwing proceeds from the robbery, including electronics and jewelry, from the car.
All four men are in the Orange County Jail.  Cardona and Reed are held in lieu of $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond;  Monroe in lieu of $150,000 bail or $300,000 bond; and Degroat in lieu of $250,000 bail or $500,000 bond.
If convicted, each defendant faces up to 25 years in state prison.
“To terrorize and assault a family in their own home with weapons and threaten them with bodily harm and sexual abuse is an unconscionable, depraved,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “Society must deal severely with individuals who assault and terrorize innocent victims, particularly when it occurs in their own homes.”
