ROCK HILL – A woman was killed Saturday afternoon when she was run over by a trailer carrying a backhoe during the Rock Hill St. Patrick’s Day parade.
State Police said Susan McCormick, 56, of Rock Hill, was riding in the
bed of a pickup truck that was towing a backhoe on a trailer. The truck
driver, Bjorn Egenes, 25, of Rock Hill, slowed down at a gas station at
Glenn Wild Road in Rock Hill to talk to an individual in the parking
lot.
McCormick stood up facing forward with her legs against the tailgate
of the truck and when Egenes pulled forward, McCormack lost her balance,
fell backwards over the tailgate onto the ground and was run over by the
trailer.
McCormick was dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
