MIDDLETOWN – Two proposals have been submitted to Middletown officials for the redevelopment of the Tompkins building on North Street and a former print shop on King Street off North.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said both proposals are exciting and ambitious.
“The one proposal has an open-air market proposed for Tompkins, a business-type hotel setting where traveling businesspeople rent a suite,” DeStefano said. “There is also a possibility of some expansion of the building on King, so we have to examine the ability of the developer to deliver.”
The city bought the former Tompkins building for $600,000 a few years ago and selling the two structures so they can be redeveloped is part of the mayor’s plan to revitalize the North Street business corridor.
