POUGHKEEPSIE – Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation is making a number of investments in its electric and natural gas delivery systems to serve long-term growth in energy use, address aging infrastructure, improve storm resiliency, enhance system efficiency and support growing sources of distributed energy.
Among the upgrades planned for this year are a new electric substation in Kerhonkson; replacing a natural gas main along Route 32 in the Town of Ulster; upgrades to the electric substation in Rhinebeck; replacing cast iron gas mains along North and South Clover streets in the City of Poughkeepsie; upgrading the electric distribution system in the Lake Road area of New Windsor; and replacing cast iron gas mains on Broadway in the City of Newburgh.
“The wires, poles, pipes and equipment that deliver electricity and natural gas power our region, and we continuously invest in this infrastructure to maintain service reliability and to meet the energy needs of our customers,” said utility President James Laurito.
