CLARKSTOWN – A month after a skunk
tested positive for rabies, two raccoons have now tested positive in the
same area of Van Houten Fields in West Nyack.

Clarkstown officials said residents should use caution when their pets
are outside. Supervision is encouraged. Don’t feed stray cats and
if a rabid animal eats from the same bowl as those strays, the saliva
in the food could expose the strays to rabies.

If residents believe they have a rabid animal in their yard, they should
call Clarkstown Police at 845-639-5800.

Anyone who was bitten by or comes in contact with a wild animal should
call the Rockland County Health Department at 845-364-2585.
