LIBERTY – A Queens man is under arrested in Sullivan County after
he was arrested in New York following an investigation into his failure
to register and verify as a sex offender. Jason Martinez, 31, was originally
charged with felony rape.

He was taken into custody by Village of Liberty Police and the US Marshals
Service on Thursday.

Police began to investigate his whereabouts in January when authorities
discovered he was no longer living at an address in the Village of Liberty
where he had registered with the Division of Criminal Justice Services
as his residence.

Town of Liberty Court issued a warrant for his arrest for failing to register
a change of physical address within 10 days as a sex offender.

When arrested he was charged with three counts of failure to register
and verify as a sex offender, all as felonies.
