MIDDLETOWN — The City of Middletown, like so many other municipalities
in the region, is being taxed in terms of road salt supply and costs incurred.
The city’s Board of Estimate met to dicuss a requested budget transfer
of $136,340 to replenish the snow and ice salt budget due to the higher
than planned usage and to protect against shortages in the future. The
full city council will vote to appropriate the funds at its meeting tonight.
City Public Works Commissioner Jacob Tawil requested the additional funding.
