GOSHEN – Orange County seniors who participate in county Office for the Aging meal programs will be eating more locally grown fruits and vegetables.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus has expanded an existing purchasing agreement with Dagele Produce, Inc., in the Village of Florida, to supply the county Office for the Aging with fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables.  The 550-acre farm signed a contract to provide produce to the county in 2014 and will use the existing two-year bid to purchase packaged and loose fresh and frozen vegetables and fruits.
Neuhaus said he is “committed to supporting our local businesses, and purchasing from farms and other producers keeps 68 cents of every dollar in the community.”
The Office for the Aging serves some 900 seniors one meal per day through the Senior Dining Program.
