Milk tanker truck skids on snow-covered road, overturns spilling cargo

It took crews all afternoon to off-load the milk and
move the truck out of the road

COPAKE – An 18-wheel milk tanker truck that was completely filled
skidded on a snow-covered Route 22 in the Town of Copake early Monday
afternoon, overturning and spilling milk. The cargo kept leaking all afternoon
from vehicle, registered to A.J.P. Trucking of Roxbury, CT.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said the truck, driven by Lynn
Thompson, 51, of Roxbury, CT. was traveling westerly on North Mountain
Road approaching the intersection with Route 22 when it skilled on the
snow covered road as it went down a hill. The driver tried to turn right
onto Route 22; however, the rear trailer tires went into a culvert ditch
causing the truck to overturn blocking north and southbound lanes.

Thompson was not injured.

Hillsdale and Copake fire departments were on the scene along with the
state transportation department and state Department of Environmental
Conservation.

The sheriff’s office investigation was continuing.
