HYDE PARK – A 19-year-old man, who
was hiking on FDR Estate property with three others, was electrocuted
Saturday afternoon when he apparently came in contact with low hanging
electrical lines believed to be owned by Amtrak, Hyde Park Police said.

When authorities found the man, they performed CPR and used an AED in
an attempt to resuscitate him, but he died when transported to MidHudson
Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Hyde Park Police are being assisted in the investigation with federal
law enforcement authorities and Amtrak Police. An autopsy was performed
by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office with the cause
of death pending.

Assisting at the scene were Hyde Park and Staatsburg fire departments,
northern Dutchess Paramedics, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and
federal law enforcement.
