Drugs, guns seized during warrant search in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – A Newburgh man was arrested by city police Thursday morning when they executed a no-knock search warrant at a residence at 87 Fullerton Avenue.
The warrant was the result of an investigation into cocaine sales there. Juan Rodriguez, 61, of that address, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
During a search of the residence, police located some 2.6 grams of cocaine, 6.6 grams of marijuana, a loaded 22 caliber revolver and a 22 caliber rifle. There were also over 300 rounds of 22 caliber ammunition found there.
The raid was conducted by the Newburgh City Police Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the SWAT team.
