MID-HUDSON – Blood drives scheduled for and by New York Blood Center were cancelled with the threat of a blizzard earlier this week and that has resulted in a shortage of the blood supply by the New York Blood Center.
Executive Director Andrea Cefarelli said blood drives are just resuming.
“We lost 3,000 blood donations through numerous blood drives through Thursday, so that caused a pretty severe blood shortage,” Cefarelli said.
In the Hudson Valley, New York Blood Center provides blood to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, Keller Army Hospital at West Point, St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital Center and Nyack Hospital.
