Two arrested on drug charges after car crashes through fence

MONTICELLO – Two men are in the Sullivan County Jail without bail
after the car they were in crashed through a fence while the driver unsafely
backed up.

Both the driver, Tele Rabii, 19, of Long Eddy and Matthew Pitz, 20, of
Callicoon, were arrested last Thursday, January 15 on drug charges.

Rabii was observed by a retired Monticello police officer crashing through
the fence at the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex at Terry Lane. He called
police, who stopped the men and detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana
coming from inside the vehicle.

Police also recovered 20 glassine envelopes of heroin in the car along
with drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. Rabii was also
charged with ripping up several glassine envelopes of heroine, which were
found on the ground found by the driver’s side car door.

Rabii was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, driving
while ability impaired and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Pitz was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession of unlawful
possession of marijuana.
