KINDERHOOK – State Police on Friday arrested a Niverville man on a charge of armed robbery in connection with a knifepoint robbery of a convenience store in the Town of Kinderhook.
Michael Cristaldi, 29, was arrested after he came out of a friend’s nearby apartment after having changed the clothing he is believed to have worn when he committed the robbery. He used a kitchen knife from the home during the incident, police said.
The acquaintance was unaware of the crime being committed.
Cristaldi was taken into custody just 1 ½ hours after the robbery of the Sunoco Convenience Store on Route 9 was reported to police around 10 p.m.
Cristaldi allegedly entered the store wearing a mask and armed with the knife. He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount.
