Six arrested in Ulster sweep of child support deadbeats

KINGSTON – Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report additional arrests in this agency’s ongoing effort, in conjunction with the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office and Ulster County Department of Social Services Child Support Enforcement Unit, to apprehend parents with outstanding warrants for nonpayment of child support.
Between October 1st and December 31st, this agency arrested 6 people with combined total arrears of approximately $126,100.  Each was arrested on either an outstanding Ulster County Family Court warrant, a misdemeanor Nonsupport of a Child in the Second Degree warrant or both.  The following are those arrested and their approximate respective arrears:

Abdel J. Santana, 29, of Guttenburg, NJ, $6,000
Thomas J. Mann, 25, of Accord, NY, $3,750
Robert M. Damms, 49, of Pittsburgh, NH, $5,450
Maurice S. Hinchey, 52, of Saugerties, NY, $68,400
Robert T. Puzio, 24, of Gardiner, NY, $500
Timothy M. Adams, Jr., 39, of Kingston, NY, $42,000

Each defendant was produced in the court(s) where their warrants originated.  Several have either served or are currently serving jail time while others have begun making payments toward their arrears. 
During this period, two additional warrants for people with arrears totaling $14,000 were vacated.  Since January 1st, a total of 51 warrants have been resolved totaling $874,000 in arrears.
